Northumberland OPP have laid charges after a serious assault earlier this month at a multi-unit residence in Campbellford.
Police say the incident happened on July 9 around 3:20 p.m. at a property on Front Street South. Officers responded after Northumberland Paramedics contacted them about a person who had been seriously injured in an assault.
The victim, who is known to the suspect, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The accused was not at the scene when emergency crews arrived, according to police.
OPP officers secured the location and called in their Forensic Identification Services Unit to assist with the investigation.
On July 13, police arrested a 23-year-old woman of no fixed address. She has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and theft under $5,000.
She was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. Police have not released the woman’s name in order to protect the identity of the victim.
