Crews are making progress on the Walas Street and Harbour Street reconstruction project, says the Municipality of Brighton.
Underground work on Walas Street has now wrapped and preparations are underway to move to Harbour between Walas and Edgewater Drive, says the municipality.
Starting Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, crews will start installing temporary water and isolation mainline valves on Harbour. However, the road remains open to through-traffic during this phase, as are businesses along this strength of road, note officials.
Full reconstruction is slated to start next week (as of August 18), and staff say detour and road closure information will be issued closer to the official start.
Full reconstruction work will involve installation of new water main, upgraded storm sewer infrastructure, new curbs, a multi-purpose pathway, and asphalt paving.
