The Deseronto Public Library is getting a big refresh thanks to almost $200,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Library CEO Julie Lane says the project began with an application submitted in early 2024 and strong support from local MPP Rick Breese.
The $199,800 investment has helped replace the entire HVAC system with energy-efficient units and redesign one of their washrooms so it’s barrier-free and accessible.
The other washroom has been turned into a three-stall universal washroom with zero-gap stalls and upgraded ventilation.
Construction began in May and also included a full retile and paint job in the library’s front entrance. Lane says the work makes the library more comfortable, accessible, and welcoming for everyone.
She credits her staff, board, and the community for their support throughout the months of planning and construction.
