A popular annual fall event that sees local artists open their studios to the public returns this weekend in the form of the Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour.
Organized by the Art Gallery of Peterborough, the self-guided tour takes to the road Saturday and Sunday (September 27 and 28), 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. First held in 1984, the behind-the-scenes look at local artists at work draws some 5,000 people annually.
Art gallery education programming coordinator Andrew Ihamaki says the attraction of the tour is rooted in the act of discovering.
Ihamaki says the flexibility offered by a self-guided tour also holds appeal.
Ihamaki says participating artists love the opportunity to host visitors and show off their creativity.
Visit https://kast.agp.on.ca for a listing of the tour stops and participating, and the downloadable tour map. Hard copies of the map are available at the art gallery on Crescent Street.
