A popular longstanding summer tradition in Buckhorn returns this weekend in the form of the 48th annual Festival of the Arts.
Held in and around the Buckhorn Community Centre, the festival will again see professional, world-renowned artists from across Canada display their work. An amateur art competition, the Art Activity Zone, an exhibit of youth art and live music are also on the agenda.
Festival spokesperson Deb Crossen says the festival debuted in 1978 as a fundraiser for the building of the community centre.
Crossen says the festival has been wildly popular since, with the calibre of participating artists a huge draw.
Crossen says the festival’s park-like setting is a huge draw, and allows for unique activities and displays.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. August 16th, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 17th, with admission by donation. For more information, including a list of exhibiting artists, visit https://www.buckhorncommunitycentre.com/events/buckhorn-festival-of-the-arts/.
