The Rotary Club of Cobourg is gearing up for the 16th annual Rib and Food Fest, returning to Victoria Park from August 15th to 17th.
Launched in 2008, the Northumberland Ribfest & Music Festival has grown into one of the region’s largest summer events. Thousands gather at Victoria Park each August for award-winning BBQ, free live entertainment, and lakeside fun, all in support of Rotary projects at home and abroad.
Lynn Hardy says the original goal was to make it a free, family-friendly event that supports important causes.
Originally launched as a free, family-friendly summer gathering, the festival continues to blend food, music, and community spirit.
Ribfest Chair Greg Campbell says this year’s slight rebrand better reflects what’s always been part of the experience.
Live music will run all weekend at the bandshell, with acts like Practically Hip, Night Fever, and the Elton John + Billy Joel Show. Visitors can enjoy ribs from top pitmasters including Boss Hogg BBQ, Uncle Sam’s, Jack the Ribber, Bibb’s BBQ, and Billy Bones BBQ, plus other food vendors and family-friendly activities.
Campbell says the lakeside location is part of the draw.
Proceeds support Rotary’s community and international projects, including hospital funding, harbour improvements, literacy programs, and clean water initiatives.
Admission is free, and thousands are expected to attend.
