As the push continues to support local, vendors at the Codrington Farmers’ Market are spicing things up this month with “Christmas in July” festivities.
The Christmas theme will take over the market Sunday, July 27 during regular market hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Owner of Whole Note Grains Co. Michelle MacKinnon is one of the market’s vendors overseeing the new addition to the market’s lineup this year and tells us more.
And MacKinnon says the title really says it all: “It is basically Christmas in July.”
For vendors, it’s also a chance to bust out some Christmasy items a little earlier – for visitors, it’s a chance for some festive fun and a change of pace.
Nestled along County Road 30, the market is now in its 11th year and continues to grow with about 50 vendors joining the fold for this season.
The market features everything from fresh produce, ciders and meats, to handmade soaps and skincare products, baked goods, pet foods (and outfits), flowers, and more throughout the season. There’s also snack food producers and artisans with all kinds of original works, to name a few more of the highlights at the 100 per cent volunteer-powered market.
MacKinnon gives us a little hint – or taste – on how regular vendors will adapt for the event and what folks may find.
Others like MacKinnon – who is a sourdough baker – will have additional festive-inspired offerings.
On top of vendors coming together and bringing the Christmas spirit to life in July, there will also be live holiday music, a bucket raffle and gift basket up for grabs, as well as a scavenger hunt, which will be a hit with families, explains MacKinnon.
Brighton Fire and Rescue is also bringing its trucks.
And if that isn’t enough Christmas for you, there’s more.
In other words, whether you’re looking for some Christmas-inspired goodies or handcrafted gems – or your regular farm-to-table produce, swing by.
“We do have some really top-notch vendors …” adds MacKinnon, who also notes supporting local farmers also has its perks.
For some, this may also be a chance to get in on the festivities if you can’t make the one-day year-end Christmas market event, adds MacKinnon.
The Codrington Farmers’ Market is located at 2992 County Rd. 30 and runs every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through to Oct. 26.
