Greater Napanee is mourning the loss of Councillor Dave Pinnell Jr.
myFM In The Morning’s Jamie Cybulski and Dave were the best of friends, despite their 20 year age gap. The two met in 2008 when Jamie first moved to Napanee and they quickly bonded over golf, concerts and fundraising.
One of their proudest efforts was the “Longest Day of Golf” fundraiser, which ran from 2012 to 2019 at the Napanee Golf Course. The event was inspired after Jamie’s father’s passed in hospice, with the event raising money for Hospice Lennox and Addington.
Dave also helped organize trivia nights with Jamie and used his deep community ties to bring people together for a great cause.
Marg Isbester says Dave did a great job bringing awareness to Hospice L&A. She usually joined Jamie and Dave for their game of golf as their spotter and joked that they’d try and aim for her.
Executive Director of Hospice L&A, Kim Sunstrum, shared with myFM through the 8 years they played over 1400 holes and raised over $40,000 for palliative care and bereavement services in our community.
Looking back on the Longest Day of Golf, Sunstrum remembers it as such a physically demanding and challenging long day, but they’d do it with a smile on their faces!
Jamie says Dave’s kindness, energy and ability to truly connect with people made him one of a kind.
