United Way Hastings and Prince Edward has announced its 2025 fundraising campaign goal – an ambitious $2.4 million, with the goal of building towards raising $3 million annually by 2028.
The organization officially launched its campaign and made the announcement during “Blizzard Day” at Dairy Queen locations in Belleville and Trenton Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, saying raising this $2.4 million is the first step in a bold new three-year challenge.
Earlier this month, United Way HPE also announced dynamic husband-and-wife duo Victor and Jodi Cooper as co-chairs to help lead the campaign.
“This is more than a goal – it’s a commitment to the future of our community,” said Brandi Hodge, executive director of United Way HPE. “We know $2.4 million is a bold target and $3 million annually is an even bigger one.
“But we’re stretching because that’s what it will take to meet the challenges ahead. Yes, it’s a stretch, but so is the need, and we’ve never backed down when our community needs us. This is how we meet the moment.”
United Way HPE funds about 40 local agencies and 48 programs through collaborations with several area organizations, businesses, the health sector and individuals. These partnerships help people with food, shelter, mental health supports, childcare, mentorship and more.
This translates to help for about one-in-four local residents.
To reach this new ambitious milestone, the organization said annual campaigns will have to grow about 10 per cent yearly.
“Our strength is in the team around us,” said Victor. “We’re fortunate to have an incredible campaign cabinet of volunteers who are just as committed as we are to rallying support.
“With their energy and passion, we know this ambitious goal is within reach.”
For people looking to learn more or get involved with the campaign, United Way has more information available online.
This fall, the organization also launches its direct mail campaign and there will be community fundraisers coming up. There are also payroll deduction campaign options for workplaces/area businesses.
“We aren’t doing this alone, and that’s the beauty of United Way,” added Jodi. “Our cabinet, our donors, our community partners, they’re all part of this effort.
“Together, we can take on a challenge this big and ensure the supports people rely on are there when they’re needed most.”
