Two Peterborough women are facing charges after an intimate partner violence incident Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the Sherbrooke Street fire station around 5 pm on Sunday, for a report of a woman with a hand injury. Investigators learned the two women had been socializing near Millennium Park when a verbal argument escalated, and one was struck on the hand with a knife. The injured woman was treated and released by EMS at the scene.
While officers were investigating, the second woman walked by and was taken into custody.
A 53-year-old woman is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. A 59-year-old woman is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking (party to the offence) and assault with a weapon – spousal.
Police say the women were on conditions not to communicate or be near one another. Both are being held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court today.
