As of Sunday, tolls have been removed from the provincially owned stretch of Highway from Brock Road to Highway 35/115.
Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith says the move is expected to save daily commuters as much as $7,200 a year.
Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini spoke to PTBOTODAY.ca on the matter and says offering people another highway to travel was critical.
