Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit conducted a two-day commercial vehicle inspection blitz on October 22 and 23, resulting in several charges and warnings.
A total of nine commercial vehicles were inspected, with three taken out of service for various safety issues. Officers also seized the plates from one truck and trailer combination after identifying multiple violations under the Highway Traffic Act.
The driver was charged with operating a commercial motor vehicle with a major defect, improper tires, failing to accurately complete a daily inspection report, operating an unsafe combination of vehicles, and having an improper braking system.
Police say the inspection initiative is part of ongoing efforts to keep unsafe vehicles off local roads and ensure commercial drivers meet provincial safety standards.
