Three people are facing drug trafficking charges after a routine traffic stop on Curve Lake First Nation led to the seizure of suspected cocaine, opioids, cannabis and cash.
Officers with the Anishinabek Police Service stopped a vehicle on the morning of July 1 near Curve Lake Road and Mississauga Street after spotting a driver not wearing a seatbelt.
Police say officers smelled burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle and subsequently searched the male driver, two female passengers, and the vehicle.
The search turned up 34.7 grams of suspected cocaine, 19 Percocet pills, seven grams of cannabis and nearly $2,900 in Canadian currency.
A 50-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, both from Keswick, Ont., and a 49-year-old woman of no fixed address are each facing multiple charges, including possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
All three were released on an undertaking.
Police remind the public that community safety is a shared responsibility and encourage anyone with information to contact the Anishinabek Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
