A break-in at a cottage on Skootamatta Lake in Addington Highlands has led to a police search and an arrest warrant.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025. The cottage owner, who wasn’t home, saw the break-in live on surveillance video and contacted police.
An officer from the Lennox and Addington OPP Detachment responded quickly and found the suspect. However, the man ran into the nearby bush and got away.
Police later confirmed the man is already wanted for other crimes, including weapons offences. Officers say there is no threat to public safety.
Several units, including the OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Units, a helicopter, and a drone, were brought in to search the area.
Despite the effort, the man was not found.
Police say an arrest warrant is being prepared and are urging the suspect to turn himself in.
