Here is your local sports report for Thursday, August 7.
The MSL semifinal is now a best-of-three after the Peterborough Lakers dropped a wild one last night in Brooklin, falling 15-9. Peterborough held a 9-8 lead with under eight minutes remaining before Brooklin stormed back with seven unanswered goals to even the series at two games apiece.
Game five goes tonight at 8pm at the Memorial Centre.
In OJCLL action, the Jr C Lakers opened the Meredith Cup final with an 11-9 win over Burlington. It was a back-and-forth battle until the closing minutes, when Peterborough pulled ahead and sealed it with an empty net goal. Game two of the best-of-five shifts to Burlington tomorrow night.
And the 17/18U Elite Tigers baseball teams will be back on the field tonight for their second open tryout, running from 6 to 9pm at the Trent University Diamond.
