Here is your local sports report for Tuesday, June 17.
The newest member of the Peterborough Lakers came through in the clutch last night in Oakville. Braeden Saris scored his first goal as a Laker with 2:15 left in the third, lifting Peterborough to a 7-6 win over the Rock. The victory improves the Lakers’ record to 7-1 on the season, keeping them in first place, two points ahead of Six Nations. The Lakers are back home on Thursday against Brooklin.
DJ Clark racked up seven points as the Jr A Lakers defeated Kitchener-Waterloo 10-7 in the first of three home games this week. The win moves Peterborough into sixth place in the standings, with a chance to keep climbing the ranks tomorrow when they host the Burlington Blaze at 8 pm at the Memorial Centre.
And on the ball diamond, the Peterborough U13 Tigers will take on Northumberland tonight at Milroy Park. First pitch is set for 6 pm.
From clutch goals to big swings, there’s plenty for Peterborough sports fans to cheer about this week.
