Emergency crews are continuing to search for two individuals reported missing in the water at Burleigh Falls in Stony Lake following a possible drowning incident on Sunday evening.
Peterborough County OPP say they were called to the area shortly before 5 p.m. on August 3, after receiving reports that two people had disappeared in the water. Officials say one person appeared to be in distress while swimming, and others entered the water in an attempt to help. Two individuals were then reported missing.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police, EMS, and local fire services responded and began searching the water and surrounding area. The search resumed Monday as specialized teams continue efforts to locate the missing swimmers.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area to allow trained personnel to conduct a thorough search.
