While routes are covered for the first day of school, Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO) says more drivers are still needed, especially spares who can step in on short notice.
STSCO CAO Roy Wierenga says the work isn’t full-time, but it can be a rewarding fit for many lifestyles.
Many drivers build lasting relationships with students and their families, something Wierenga says keeps them coming back year after year.
He says some stay behind the wheel for decades.
It’s also a job that carries a great deal of responsibility. Wierenga notes it takes the right kind of person to do it well.
STSCO is encouraging anyone interested to visit their “Drive Yellow” website to learn about training, wages, and how to apply.
