The Capitol Theatre in Port Hope will take centre stage on October 29 as it hosts the Canadian red carpet premiere of IT: Welcome to Derry, the highly anticipated prequel series to Stephen King’s IT.
The exclusive event invites the public to walk the red carpet and attend a special screening of Episodes 1 and 2, with Port Hope featured prominently as the fictional town of Derry, Maine. Local audiences will be the first in Canada to see Episode 2, ahead of its official release.
Doors open at 8 p.m., and the screening begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance starting Tuesday, October 21, at 10 a.m. Each guest may reserve up to four tickets through the Capitol Theatre box office, either online, in person, or by phone.
The event is presented by Port Hope Tourism in partnership with HBO Max, Crave, Ontario Creates, and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Organizers say the premiere is both a celebration of Port Hope’s connection to the IT franchise and a showcase of the community’s cinematic charm that continues to draw film productions from around the world.
Attendees are advised that IT: Welcome to Derry is rated TV-MA for graphic violence, strong language, sexual content, and mature themes, and is not suitable for viewers under 17.
