This fall, Port Hope is embracing its “real Derry, Maine” reputation with a month-long celebration of spooky fun.
Residents and visitors can enjoy haunted walking tours, a downtown pumpkin parade, themed dances, spooky window displays, and downtown trick-or-treating.
The centre piece of the festivities is two special pay-what-you-can screenings at the Capitol Theatre – the 2017 horror hit IT on October 5 at 7 p.m. and IT: Chapter Two on October 12 at 7 p.m. Both movies were filmed in Port Hope and prominently feature local landmarks. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario-Northumberland.
Organizers say the screenings and events are designed to highlight Port Hope’s unique charm and bring the community together during the Halloween season. Alongside the movies, visitors can take IT-themed walking tours, join haunted walks, or enjoy family-friendly activities like the pumpkin parade and downtown trick-or-treating.
Whether you’re a fan of horror films, seasonal traditions, or just exploring Port Hope’s historic downtown, there’s something spooky for all ages and plenty of thrills waiting around every corner.
