Anne Farquharson is being remembered as a real leader in the Peterborough community and somebody who never tired of giving back to many local causes.
The lawyer and volunteer died at her home over the weekend at the age of 68.
She spent time giving back to many organizations during her life including Five Counties Children’s Centre, Big Brothers Big Sisters Peterborough, 4th Line Theatre, Peterborough Rotary Club and most recently as a member of the United Way of Peterborough & District’s Campaign Cabinet.
United Way Campaign Chair Paul Rellinger was stunned to hear the news, saying the two connected last week and were planning some big things.
Farquharson also spent time on Peterborough city council, representing Town Ward for one term from 2006 to 2010.
Broadcaster and Communications Chair with the Peterborough Pathway of Fame, Gordon Gibb, took to social media and said “A true champion of the downtown, and of the City. And never shy to speak her mind and weigh in on issues about which she felt passionate. She will be missed.”
In an interview with the Peterborough Examiner, longtime friend and former Executive Director of the Peterborough DBIA, Terry Guiel, said a celebration of life is in the works for as early as this weekend.
