A 23-year-old Peterborough man previously charged with harassment and possession of child pornography is now facing more charges following an investigation into additional electronic devices.
Police say a search warrant of a phone uncovered photos and videos of indecent acts and voyeurism at the man’s workplace, home, and in the community. Investigators confirmed the workplace was closed to the public at the time and say there’s no indication any incidents involved members of the public.
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Mathew Saunders, 23, of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with five counts of committing an indecent act and nine counts of voyeurism.
He was held in custody after his arrest but has since been released on a release order with strict conditions following a court appearance earlier this week.
Police say Saunders’ name and photo are being released under the Community Safety and Policing Act (2019) and out of concern for public safety given the nature of the incidents and the evolution of the investigation over the past six months.
The investigation is ongoing, and police continue to work to identify and connect with victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Peterborough Police at 705-876-1122 x555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or visit stopcrimehere.ca.
