A 40-year-old Peterborough man who was previously charged with indignity to a dead body is now facing a second, more serious charge.
The deceased, a 33-year-old woman, was found inside a Charlotte Street apartment last Tuesday where the suspect was taking into custody.
Following further investigation, detectives with the Investigative Services Unit have charged the man with second-degree murder in addition to the earlier charge.
No other details have been released and police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
