A 37-year-old man is in custody following a disturbance that stretched across several blocks in Peterborough’s east end.
Police say they received multiple calls around 9:30 p.m. on Monday about a man carrying a 2×4 who allegedly broke a business window and struck several vehicles near Hunter Street East and Mark Street. Officers later found a suspect walking through the nearby ballpark and arrested him without incident.
Investigators say the man also tried to enter a residence on Driscoll Terrace and struck a tenant on the arm with the piece of wood before fleeing. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The accused faces charges including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of mischief, and two counts of failing to comply with probation.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
