The Ontario government is investing more than $3 million in water infrastructure in Peterborough to help enable 1,400 new homes.
The funding, through the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, will support the Eastern Trunk Sani-Sewer project in the city’s Liftlock growth area.
“Our government is committed to building a stronger, more prosperous Peterborough,” said Peterborough—Kawartha MPP Dave Smith. “By providing the foundational infrastructure to enable 1,400 new homes, we are addressing housing supply needs while creating jobs right here at home.”
Mayor Jeff Leal welcomed the support, calling it “a vital step” to ensure critical infrastructure is in place for sustainable growth.
Infrastructure Minister Kinga Surma said the province is “doubling down” on its plan to build, noting the investment will “protect communities, keep workers on the job and lay the groundwork for a stronger economy.”
