Six new pedestrian crossings are set to improve safety on collector roads in Peterborough, with five scheduled for installation this year and one planned for 2026.
City council approved a report Monday outlining priority locations identified through the city’s Pedestrian Crossing Program, part of the Road Safety Strategy’s Safety for Vulnerable Users initiative. Sites were selected based on factors such as collision history, proximity to schools, trails, transit stops and previous requests.
Crossings coming in 2025 include McKeller Street at the Crawford Rail Trail, Erskine Avenue at the Crawford Rail Trail, Glenforest Boulevard at Ravenwood Drive, Park Street North at Hunter Street West, and Walker Avenue at Walker Park.
The intersection of Wolsely Street and Donegal Street is slated for an Intersection Pedestrian Signal in 2026, pending capital funding approval.
