The Ontario government is investing more than $6.3 million toward the construction of a new multi-season, covered outdoor arena in Curve Lake First Nation.
The project, part of the province’s $200-million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund, aims to protect jobs while expanding access to year-round physical activity and community programming.
Officials say the arena will include a refrigerated ice surface, change rooms, and accessible washrooms, creating a central hub for hockey, figure skating, lacrosse, ball hockey and cultural gatherings.
“This facility will provide a safe inclusive space for recreation, sport and cultural gatherings year-round,” said Chief Laurie Hockaday. “It will advance our community’s vision and commitment to health and wellness.”
Sport Minister Neil Lumsden said the investment will support families, create local jobs and build stronger community connections.
