The Ontario government is investing nearly $12.9 million in water infrastructure in the Township of Cavan Monaghan to support the construction of about 750 new homes.
The money, delivered through the province’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, will help pay for a new Millbrook standpipe and water distribution network expansion.
Local officials say the project will create capacity for new development while supporting existing residents and businesses.
“This $12.9 million investment will help create more housing opportunities for families in Cavan Monaghan by supporting the critical infrastructure needed to get homes built,” said Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MPP Laurie Scott.
Mayor Matthew Graham said the funding comes at a “critical time” for the growing township, while Peterborough County Warden Bonnie Clark said the investment would benefit the community long-term.
The announcement is part of Ontario’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, which the province says has enabled about 800,000 new homes to date.
