Long-term care homes in Lennox and Addington are getting a boost from the Ontario government to help residents with complex medical needs.
The province is investing $35 million through the Local Priorities Fund (LPF) to improve care and reduce hospital visits across the province. The funding supports specialized equipment, staff training and services to help seniors get the care they need in their long-term care homes.
In 2024-25, four facilities in Lennox and Addington received support: Lennox & Addington County General Hospital ($157,310), Helen Henderson Nursing Home ($53,907), The John M. Parrott Centre ($50,024) and Friendly Manor Nursing Home ($12,678).
The LPF, launched in 2022, helps homes purchase items like IV machines, bariatric beds, bladder scanners and slip-proof mats.
“Thanks to the LPF, long-term care homes in Lennox & Addington are equipped to care for our loved ones,” said Ric Bresee, MPP for Hastings-Lennox & Addington. “Specialized equipment and services mean that long-term care home residents can get the care they need without the stress of a trip to the hospital.”
The investment is part of Ontario’s plan to improve long-term care through better staffing, quality, modern facilities and easier access to care for seniors and their caregivers.
