The Central Lakes Association of Realtors (CLAR) says Northumberland County and Quinte West experienced steady housing sales in August alongside shifting prices and faster-moving properties.
In Northumberland County, 118 transactions were recorded in August 2025, up slightly from 115 the year before. The average selling price was $679,100, down from $705,752 in August 2024 – a modest 3.8 per cent decline. CLAR says this reflects greater market balance and more purchasing options for prospective buyers.
Quinte West, part of Hastings County, reported sales in August closely mirroring last year’s levels. The average price was $538,862, a 2.9 per cent year-over-year drop, but homes sold faster at an average of 43 days on the market compared to 46 a year earlier.
Across the broader region, similar trends were observed. Peterborough recorded 193 transactions in August, up from 160 last year, with prices rising to $715,608. Durham Region saw 676 sales, down from 709, while Kawartha Lakes held steady at 113 sales with a 6.5 per cent drop in average price. Prince Edward County recorded 32 transactions with prices down but days on market improving.
CLAR says these patterns show improved affordability and more opportunities for buyers in Northumberland County, Quinte West and beyond. The association also welcomed the province’s additional $1.6 billion investment in the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, bringing the total to $4 billion, which it says will help support more homes and greater affordability in local communities.
