The Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation’s Catch the Ace Lottery is back, promising to be bigger and better than ever.
The progressive jackpot launches with a guaranteed minimum of $10,000 and grows weekly until the ace of spades is caught. Tickets went on sale Wednesday, August 27 at 3 p.m., with the first draw slated for September 3. Fifty percent of ticket sales support the hospital, 20 percent goes to weekly prizes, and 30 percent contributes to the jackpot.
So how does it work? Participants select an envelope they believe contains the ace of spades. Each week, a winning ticket is drawn. If the ace is revealed, the holder wins both the weekly prize and the progressive jackpot. If not, the weekly winner still receives a cash prize, while the jackpot carries over.
Tickets are $10 each, three for $20, or 10 for $50, and are available online, at the foundation office, and at local community events. Draws occur every Wednesday at 2 p.m., with new tickets sold immediately afterward until the ace is caught.
NHH Foundation CEO Rhonda Cunningham says the lottery is a fun way to support essential medical equipment. Players are reminded to play responsibly. For help with gambling issues, contact the Ontario Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-888-230-3505 or ConnexOntario at 1-866-531-2600.
