A 22-year-old from Carrying Place is facing impaired driving charges after failing to stop at a stop sign in Picton.
The incident happened early Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025, shortly after 4:30 a.m. An officer with the Prince Edward County OPP saw a car run a stop sign at the intersection of Main and Bridge Streets.
The officer pulled the vehicle over and used a roadside screening device. The driver was then taken to the detachment for further testing.
Benjamin Armstrong has been charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, and disobeying a stop sign.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Picton court on September 3, 2025. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
