Staff at Millhaven Institution in Bath have seized a large package of contraband and unauthorized items, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) announced Friday.
The discovery was made on July 10, 2025, thanks to the vigilance of prison staff at the maximum-security federal facility. The seized items included tobacco, cannabis concentrate known as “shatter,” and crystal methamphetamine.
CSC says the estimated value of the seizure is $343,497 inside the institution.
In response to ongoing threats to safety, CSC has increased its security measures to stop contraband from entering prisons. Officials say they are also working closely with police to take action against anyone trying to smuggle illegal or banned items into correctional facilities.
To support this effort, CSC operates a confidential tip line at 1-866-780-3784. The line allows people to share information anonymously about drugs or other suspicious activity that could put staff, inmates, or visitors at risk.
