To say the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival surpassed its fundraising goal, might be a slight understatement.
As of Monday morning, more than $325,000 has been raised for the PRHC Foundation.
President & CEO Lesley Heighway says the fun on Little Lake is always a highlight of her year.
The staggering total this year adds to the more than $4.5 million brought in since the festival’s inception in 2001. Heighway says the effort has been amazing.
The money this year is going to Digital Pathology at PRHC, something Heighway says will help doctors detect cancer earlier and share information easier with colleagues.
Kristen Locke was the top individual fundraiser with over $23,000, while the Tastefully TALENTED Water Warriors were the top team at just over $32,000.
