Lennox and Addington County Council has chosen its leadership team for another year.
At its inaugural meeting on December 10, councillors re-elected Loyalist Township Deputy Mayor Nathan Townend as Warden for 2026. Loyalist Township Mayor Jim Hegadorn was also re-elected as Deputy Warden. Both officials held the same positions in 2025.
Townend’s declaration of office was administered by Judge Geoff Griffin. Townend has served on County Council since 2022 and has played an active role in regional public health. He previously served on the KFL&A Public Health board and the South East Transition Team, which helped guide the merger of three eastern Ontario public health units. He now sits on the board of the new Southeast Public Health. Townend also represents rural communities through roles with ROMA and AMO, and is completing a master’s degree in political management at Carleton University.
Hegadorn has served on County Council since 2018 and sits on several committees. He works for the Ministry of Transportation and lives with his family on a long-standing farm north of Odessa.
Warden Townend thanked Council for putting their trust in him and said he is “humbled to serve as Lennox and Addington County Warden for 2026.” He went on to say, “Now more than ever… we need to maintain the important work of ensuring our citizens are safe, housed, healthy, and happy.”
