Lennox and Addington County Council met earlier this week and approved two major community initiatives. One to support mental health for emergency workers and another to boost local events.
Council gave the green light for paramedic services to apply for a provincial grant through the Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel program. If successful, the money will help improve mental health support for paramedics. The grant, launched May 27 by the Solicitor General, pairs with a new Warrior Health portal from Wounded Warriors Canada.
Council also approved funding through the 2025 L&A Activation Fund. The $40,000 program supports community-led projects, offering up to $4,000 each plus $1,000 for digital promotion.
This year’s approved projects include the Enterprise Zombie Walk ($1,437.50), Fallin’ For Maple Festival in Stone Mills ($2,000), and the Flinton Community Gardens ($3,125). The Activation Fund launched in December 2024 to support grassroots economic development.
