One of Canada’s most iconic rock bands is returning to Peterborough. Sloan will take the Fred Anderson Stage at Del Crary Park tonight at 8 p.m. as part of this year’s Musicfest lineup.
Known for their unique blend of power pop and rock, Sloan emerged from Halifax’s vibrant music scene in the early ’90s alongside the Seattle grunge movement. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, the band has released 13 studio albums and written over 250 songs. They have earned nine JUNO nominations and won Best Alternative Album in 1997 for One Chord to Another. Their hits include “The Good In Everyone,” “Everything You’ve Done Wrong,” and “The Lines You Amend.”
Sloan continues to produce new music, with their 2022 album Steady featuring tracks like “Spend the Day” and “Magical Thinking.” The band is celebrated for their dynamic live performances, where members Chris Murphy, Patrick Pentland, Jay Ferguson, and Andrew Scott share songwriting and vocals while often swapping instruments on stage.
This will be Sloan’s second performance at Peterborough Musicfest, having previously played in 2013. The event also features local artists Alyssa Morrissey and Kyler Tapscott as part of the Future Sound Series on the second stage at 6:30 p.m., following Happy Hour food deals from 5 to 6 p.m.
