An event held annually to remember those lost to a drug overdose is fast approaching, again coinciding with International Overdose Awareness Day.
From 1 to 3 p.m. on August 29th at Millennium Park, members of Moms Stop The Harm will gather alongside representatives of local agencies who are on the front lines of drug harm education and mitigation. Among the organizers is Gail Parry, whose daughter Jody Smith died from a drug overdose in 2018 at age 32.
Perry says the aim is reduce the stigma around overdose deaths.
Perry says the loss of her daughter is with her every day, but especially at this time of year.
Meanwhile, a flag raising marking International Overdose Awareness Day will be held August 20th, 10 a.m., at City Hall.
