A drop in impaired driving cases hasn’t eased concerns for the OPP in eastern Ontario.
As of the end of June, Spokesperson Bill Dickson says OPP officers investigated 575 impaired driving incidents across the region.
Dickson says though trending down a tick, the stats are still disturbing.
So far in 2025, the OPP has responded to 22 fatal collisions on eastern Ontario roads, leading to 25 deaths.
Impaired driving played a role in five of those. Dickson says it has to stop.
The OPP continues to patrol 24/7 to crack down on dangerous driving, including alcohol and drug impairment.
They also ask that if you see a suspected impaired driver, call 9-1-1, it could be a life-saving call.
