Quinte Health is still wrestling with a hard drive failure, and as a result, some non-emergency procedures are being cancelled Wednesday, July 30.
In an update on the “Code Grey” situation from Quinte Health Wednesday, senior communications specialist Carly Baxter said due to the hard drive failure, the computer system is down, and staff have reverted to paper-based operations.
“We are cancelling some non-emergency procedures, including outpatient diagnostic imaging (such as X-ray, CT and MRI procedures), and elective surgeries for the day,” said Baxter, in an email.
Meanwhile other services, such as emergency departments, will also be slower than normal, noted officials.
The situation is impacting all four of Quinte Health’s hospitals – Belleville, Trenton, Picton and Bancroft.
“Our team is making every effort to contact patients impacted directly,” added Baxter. “If you don’t hear from our team, please come for your procedure as scheduled.”
As of Wednesday morning, Quinte Health was anticipating that computer systems would be down until late afternoon or early evening. This issue is believed to have started Tuesday.
Quinte Health is asking for people’s patience as work continues to get systems back up and running.
