A fire investigation at 306 Front St. in Belleville Friday morning has shut down a portion of the road.
“The fire is out and there is no danger to the public; however, Front Street remains closed to vehicular traffic at the corner of Victoria Street for the ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire,” said the city.
The street remains open to foot traffic, and downtown businesses are operating as usual, added city officials.
Belleville fire and police remain on the scene, as well as a number of emergency vehicles, and police are asking drivers to slow down and drive with extra caution if travelling in the area.
The closure is between Victoria Avenue and the entrance to the municipal lot adjacent to the Empire Theatre. Southbound vehicles on Front Street are being re-routed through the municipal parking lot, noted police.
