A total burn ban is now in effect across Greater Napanee, Deseronto and the surrounding region as of Monday, August 11, due to extremely dry conditions and high fire risk.
The ban prohibits all open-air burning at any time, including campfires, fireworks, flying lanterns, chimineas, and charcoal grills. Only propane and natural gas grills may be used for cooking.
The measure is necessary to protect public safety, prevent wildfires, and reduce strain on emergency services. No burn permits will be issued until further notice.
The ban will remain in place until the Fire Chief declares the fire risk level safe. Violations may lead to fines or charges, and anyone found responsible for a fire will be required to cover all costs related to the fire department’s response.
