Road crews are getting to work across Greater Napanee as Greenwood Paving begins applying new surface treatments on several local roads this week.
A double layer of tar and chip is being applied to Westplain Road starting the week of July 28, weather permitting. The Town says the road will look like gravel at first, with loose stones on top. Drivers are urged to slow down and avoid hard braking until the surface sets.
Single-layer treatments are also planned for Storey Street, Townline Road, Shorey Road, Dollar Crescent, and Switzerville Road. That work is set to begin on or shortly after July 28.
Temporary lane closures and traffic delays are expected on all affected routes.
The Town reminds drivers that while the roads may appear rough at first, the surface will become smoother over time with regular traffic and compaction. Caution is advised during this transition period.
