A 27-year-old Brighton man is facing impaired and dangerous driving charges after a two-vehicle collision in Cramahe Township sent both drivers to hospital.
Northumberland OPP say officers were called to Barnes Road and County Road 2 around 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Emergency crews found two heavily damaged passenger vehicles and both motorists suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The road was closed for cleanup and reopened just before 9 p.m.
Police say an impaired driving investigation began after speaking with one of the drivers.
The man is charged with operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration over 80, and dangerous operation causing bodily harm. He’s scheduled to appear in court in Cobourg in January 2026. Police say his licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven.
