Peterborough’s United Way has partnered with Peterborough Action for Tiny Homes (PATH) for this year’s Coats for Community campaign.
The campaign, which collects winter coats as well as boots, sleeping bags and blankets for those in need of all ages, traces back to 1986 when it was known as Coats for Kids, saw 2,200 coats collected and distributed last year.
Coats can be dropped off October 16, 17 and 18 at PATH, 385 Lansdowne Street East, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Beginning October 19th, coats will be accepted each Wednesday and Saturday at the same locations. Starting November 1st, donated items will be distributed by a number of local agencies on the first Saturday of each month into April.
United Way CEO Jim Russell says the campaign offers a non-monetary way for people to make a real difference in the lives of those struggling.
Russell says the partnership with PATH is a clear example of the collaborative approach needed to support those struggling to get by.
Russell says donors Coats for Community can rest assured their kindness is resulting in an immediate and tangible benefit.
