After following up on a traffic complaint from a concerned citizen, police say a Campbellford resident is facing impaired driving charges.
According to Northumberland OPP, on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at about 10:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver near Bridge Street West and Grand Road in the Municipality of Trent Hills, and shortly afterwards, located the suspect vehicle.
After speaking with the driver, an impaired driving investigation was initiated, resulting in an arrest and trip to the police station for further testing, reported OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 42-year-old Campbellford resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)
The accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
None of these charges have been proven in court. The accused is due in court in Cobourg in January.
Police continue to encourage citizens to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911 and urge motorists to plan ahead.
