The Peterborough and Kawarthas Chamber of Commerce has appointed Brenda Whitehead as its new President and CEO.
Whitehead brings extensive experience in small business development, economic growth and community building, most recently serving as CEO of the Port Hope & District Chamber of Commerce. She also previously worked as Director of Economic and Community Development for the Township of Cavan Monaghan and has led her own consultancy focused on local development.
“We are thrilled that Brenda is joining us,” said Susan Dunkley, Board Chair and CEO of Suzi Homemaker. “She understands business needs, the challenges they face, and she’s passionate about building strong communities.”
Whitehead’s mandate includes strengthening advocacy efforts, enhancing member services and deepening engagement with local businesses and governments.
“Peterborough’s business community has a stellar reputation,” said Whitehead. “I’m excited to work alongside Chamber staff and members to help our region thrive.”
Whitehead is also active in the non-profit sector, serving on the board for Junior Achievement and supporting local workforce initiatives.
Her first day on the job will be August 4th.
