Seventeen years after Calvin Vanness vanished, police are still searching for answers—and offering a $50,000 reward to help solve the case.
The 65-year-old Belleville man was last seen on March 26, 2008, driving his grey 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix with red flames on the side. A week later, the car was found abandoned in a commuter parking lot along Highway 38 in Kingston.
Investigators believe someone else may have driven the car after Vanness disappeared.
Since 2010, the Ontario Provincial Police and Belleville Police Service have been investigating the case as a homicide, led by the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
Police believe someone knows what happened to Vanness and hope the $50,000 reward will encourage that person to come forward.
Anyone with tips is asked to contact the OPP or provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers, where they may also receive up to $2,000 in cash.
