Two Cobourg residents have been charged following a drug-related investigation by local police.
Cobourg Police Service officers from the Street Crime Enforcement Unit were investigating suspected drug possession and trafficking near Covert and Division streets on Nov. 4 when they observed two people behaving in a manner considered unsafe in the presence of a child.
With assistance from the canine unit and uniform patrol officers, a 49-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were arrested.
Both face charges of possessing a Schedule 1 substance and failing to provide the necessaries of life. The woman is also charged with breaching a probation order.
Both accused were held for a bail hearing. Police are withholding their identities to protect the victim.
