Cobourg is reminding motorists that seasonal parking restrictions are now in effect, helping ensure municipal crews can safely and efficiently clear snow from local roads throughout the winter.
Under Parking Bylaw 048-2023, vehicles are prohibited from parking on designated collector and arterial roads between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. from Nov. 1 through March 31. The rules are intended to keep major routes accessible for traffic and snow-clearing equipment.
The bylaw also prohibits parking in a way that interferes with snow removal. During snowstorms or significant weather events, parking may be banned on municipal roads when notice is issued.
Additional restrictions apply throughout the winter to cul-de-sacs, wide corners, laneways, one-way streets and lay-bys, where parking is prohibited at all times.
Residents can check the town’s winter parking map or its online interactive map to identify affected streets.
Cobourg is encouraging residents to use off-street parking wherever possible.
